The Job
IL Solutions was appointed to fully refurbish three classrooms, including an IT suite, as well as redecorate seven additional classrooms and a large corridor.
The three-room refurbishment involved removing existing suspended ceilings and flooring, installing new fire-rated ceilings and redecorating.
However, once work began, the team uncovered complications with the existing heating, ventilation and fire detection systems that would need to be addressed.

What we did
Working across multiple trades, IL Solutions coordinated the ceiling, electrical, flooring, heating and ventilation, plastering and decorating work.
The existing suspended ceilings were removed and replaced with double-layer fire-rated plasterboard ceilings, providing 60-minute fire resistance.
The team worked carefully around existing heating and ventilation equipment and fire detection systems, adapting the installation to accommodate services that needed to remain operational.
New flooring was installed, electrical fittings and detectors were reinstated, and the rooms were finished with fresh decoration and feature walls.
Alongside this more involved refurbishment, the team also completed painting and decorating in seven further classrooms and a large corridor.
The Result
The refurbishment was completed in approximately three and a half weeks during the school summer holidays.
Despite the unexpected complications, IL Solutions successfully coordinated the different trades and delivered the upgraded rooms, additional classroom decoration and corridor refresh within the holiday programme.
