The owners of a residential property in Shenstone, near Lichfield, wanted to create a more spacious, functional kitchen area.
The project involved significant changes to the existing layout, along with new kitchen fittings and associated building services. As the work progressed, the homeowners also decided to make improvements elsewhere in the property.
The Challenge
Creating the open-plan kitchen required the removal of an existing load-bearing wall.
The existing utility area also formed part of the plans, with changes to the layout needed to create the space the homeowners wanted.
Alongside the kitchen and utility alterations, the homeowners requested further decorating work throughout the property. This meant coordinating additional work alongside the main kitchen installation while accommodating changes to the original plans.

Getting the Structural Work Right
IL Solutions worked through the structural requirements for removing the load-bearing wall, including liaison with the structural engineer and consideration of the relevant Building Regulations.
Once the necessary arrangements were established, the team carried out the building alterations to create the new open-plan layout.
The work also involved changes to the utility area, with associated plumbing and electrical alterations.
Coordinating the Complete Refurbishment
With the structural alterations completed, IL Solutions managed the different trades involved in fitting and finishing the new kitchen.
As the homeowners added further improvements to the project, IL Solutions also coordinated the decoration of the stairs, landing and other rooms.
By managing the building, mechanical, electrical and finishing trades together, the team was able to accommodate the additional requests within the wider refurbishment programme.
